ONE OF PROPER LANGUAGES’ KEY COMMITMENTS
When we talk about integration, we mean that we offer integration courses for anyone who wants to integrate in Geneva and Switzerland. Our commitment to integration is at the heart of our mission. In an international city like Geneva, integration is not just about expatriates, but also about people with a migrant background. Our commitment is to offer integration solutions tailored to everyone. We offer two types of integration course:
For expatriates
For people with an immigrant background
Why this distinction? Because we want every learner to benefit from tailor-made learning. Learning a language to work in an international organisation or to integrate into the country before looking for a job requires personalised methods and support. Our commitment is to provide appropriate methods and personalised support for every situation.
In short, our commitment to integration is based on the conviction that learning the language well is the key to effective integration. Regardless of social background, languages are a right at PL. This strong commitment reflects our dedication to equality and access to education.
We have teachers from all over the world who understand the challenges of integration in Switzerland. They are expert teachers who are qualified to teach adults, which reinforces our commitment to quality education.
In keeping with this commitment, the majority of our courses are eligible for government subsidies: at cantonal level with the annual training cheque for the canton of Geneva, and at national level with the ‘Simply better… at work’ programme subsidy. These initiatives underline our commitment to making education accessible to all.

ONE OF THE KEY COMMITMENTS OF PROPER LANGUAGES
Just as we help learners integrate in Switzerland, we also help them prepare for their expatriation. Our commitment is to provide learners with the linguistic and cultural support they need to make a successful transition.
We offer intensive courses for all levels, focusing on the language skills needed for everyday and professional life. Cultural workshops are organised to provide information on local customs, traditions, social behaviour and professional etiquette. Our commitments also include simulations of real-life situations and role-playing to practise everyday and professional scenarios.
We cover the teaching of practical vocabulary and everyday interactions, such as opening a bank account or renting a flat. Administrative assistance is provided to understand and draft the documents required for expatriation. Talking groups and social events provide opportunities to meet other expatriates and build a social network. Post-arrival support is provided through online courses and ongoing support to answer questions after the move. Our commitment also extends to programmes and activities for children (with PEP English) and specific courses.
At Proper Languages, our commitment to enhancing the value of work means improving your language skills in a professional context. With specialised courses for all sectors (see our partners), Proper Languages has developed tailor-made methods and courses to meet every specific requirement.
Whether you’re writing, speaking or negotiating, having a good command of the working language of your company or your partners gives you a definite advantage.
As part of our commitment, most of our courses are eligible for subsidies. In the canton of Geneva, they are covered by the annual training cheque, and at national level by the subsidy from the ‘Simply better… at work’ programme.

ONE OF THE KEY COMMITMENTS OF PROPER LANGUAGES
Proper Languages is honoured to support the Green Flower Foundation, a Swiss foundation dedicated to promoting organic farming and sustainable development through educational and training projects. The foundation’s main mission is to raise young people’s awareness of the ecological and economic benefits of organic farming, while providing them with professional and entrepreneurial skills to build a better future.
The Green Flower Foundation’s approach is based on three pillars: promoting organic farming, facilitating effective vocational training programmes, and developing entrepreneurial skills. Between 2018 and 2021, the foundation developed Ethiopia’s first vocational training programme in organic horticulture. The aim of this project was to improve graduates’ chances of finding employment or starting independent businesses in this sector.
Our founder, Ruth Avison Dang, is deeply involved with the Green Flower Foundation. She plays a key role in the organisation as a board member and education expert. Ruth is involved in the development and implementation of the foundation’s educational programmes, particularly those designed to promote organic farming in Ethiopia.
Ruth Avison Dang brings her expertise in education and communications to help raise awareness and train young people and local farmers in sustainable and organic practices. She also contributes to the production of audiovisual content, with voice-over roles.

Social and Diversity
We are proud to share our social and diversity values with our employees, who come from the four corners of the globe: Europe, Africa, North and South America, Asia and Oceania. These commitments guarantee the diversity and quality of our services. Thanks to this diversity, we are able to teach more than 12 languages throughout Geneva and Switzerland.
As part of our social commitment, we also integrate generational values. We give people in work experience programmes (AIT) and people over 50 in professional reintegration programmes the opportunity to work with us. We firmly believe that these collaborations and exchanges are beneficial for all parties. Our commitments encourage the sharing of know-how and professional experience: older people pass on their knowledge to younger people, and younger people bring new perspectives and modern skills to older people.
